Assuming that you have created a facebook app which integrates on Facebook Pages as tabs, below are the steps to put a facebook app on a facebook page.

1. Go to http://developers.facebook.com/apps and click on the app you want to add on Facebook Page.
2. On left hand side, under Related Links, click on 'View App Profile Page'.
3. After you are on App Profile Page, you will see a link 'Add to My Page' . This will open a lightbox which will list all your pages.
4. Press Add button if front of page name to add a facebook app on your facebook page.

I build the http://shop.bigadda.com from scratch. Loads of features are developed based on product team. Some how the business development department is not doing well in keeping up.
e.g HP super small pendrive 8GB MRP is Rs. 1200, but http://shop.bigadda.com says its MRP is Rs. 1400 . You can buy it from flipcart in Rs 530 (Free Delivery) and you can buy it from Bigadda Shop at Rs. 739 (Rs 100 delivery charges)

Either their suppliers are not good or they are unable to setup a deal with them,

Creating SVN server on Linux, Doing first checkout and checkin

sudo apt-get install subversion

2. Create a Repository

svnadmin create /svnrepos

3. Create a SVN User

vi /svnrepos/conf/svnserve.conf

In that file add/edit these three lines:

anon-access = none
auth-access = write
password-db = passwd

Create a password file:

vi /svnrepos/conf/passwd

In that file add a line for your user:

# add users in the format : user = password

3. Import Your Project

(assuming you’ve put your project files in /projects/myproject)

svn import /projects/myproject saurabh/myproject

4. Start the SVN Server as Daemon

svnserve -d

Done!

Try checking it out of the repository:

svn co svn://192.168.0.2/svnrepos/myproject

Since we set anon-access to none you should be prompted for username and password which you created in the file /svnrepos/conf/passwd.

After Godrej released Gojiyo and conducted demos at various stores, I registered for it. I used it a little but there were very less things to do because of very less users.

Today again I logged in and tried to load the 3D space but it dosent loads up, stops in between. I refreshed 10 times hoping this time it will work but it didnt.

After launch of tools like Google Search, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter and Feeds Reader its now easy to get data of firms and create information.

Below are simple methods you can follow on each of above listed sites to get information about firm.

Google Search:

Directly enter name of the firm you are researching for, if the firm is listed in any of the stock exchange, then google will show you its stock price and various news on the firm. If the firm is not listed in any of the stock exchange, google hopefully will provide you with website of the firm and may be few linkedin profiles. You can read about the firm from website or Linkedin
Google will give you news in which name of this firm was mentioned. Read the articles and never forget to read the comments on article. Reading comments are important because that shows how firm people responded to that news and how they behave with the people commenting.

Linkedin:

As in point above google gave you link to people working in that firm. You can search for firm name on Linkedin in Company search and you will get to know information like

Privately held or Public
Number of employees
Key persons
Business type
Average age of people working.

Facebook

Generally firms have tendency of keeping a Facebook group or page, where people comment on firms working and products. This is very important. I have seen people complaining on Facebook page of firms and firms giving some automated response like "We are looking in to this matter and will reply back soon."

Twitter:

From the website of the firm you will get link to their twitter page and you can see updates by the firm and their views regarding various trends.

Hope this article helps someone. This is how I investigate any firm before dealing with them.

I've been ordering pizzas from Dominos in-spite of friends telling me they are bad. Because I like the delivery time.

Yesterday to treat my wife I ordered pizza (9:00 pm) and and we didnt received in 40 mins as promised by telecaller. I called up again and she told '30 min delivery dont apply as today its raining'. I said fine no problem.

Pizza didnt reached in 1 hr (10:00 pm), I called back. Girl says we have sent the pizza and will be reaching you in 5-10 mins.

Pizza didnt reached in 1 hr 30 mins (10.45 pm). Girl says she have sent it and will reach in 3-10 mins. I got frustrated and shouted "If you cant give guarantee of 30 min then can you give guarantee of 2 hrs?", after lots of arguments she said take pizzas free. I had question will pizza reach or no, because we were really hungry by that time. (11:00 pm)

I gave up and started preparing Maggi and I posted on facebook " Maggi keeps promises and Dominos breaks promises "

We had 2 plates Maggi and Pizza guy appears (~11:30pm) and says Pizza is not free you have to pay 78 INR, I said please take it back.

If this is how Dominos treats hungry stomach the it dont have any rights to message "Kushiyon ki home delivery", because it nither gave me any Kushi to call up again and again for pizza nor they did home delivery on time.

I am taking this pain and time to write not because I am free and nothing to do, because I really liked the delivery time and was not satisfied.

Please improve or you will keep loosing customers.

install ttf / windows / barcode fonts on ubuntu

to install ttf / windows fonts on ubuntu use following commands

1. Move all your fonts to the ~/ Directory. The ~/ Directory is your home folder. So if you were logged in as cruddpuppet, the directory would be /home/cruddpuppet/ .
2. Open up the terminal. I'm assuming you've already extracted the font to the ~/ directory. Type: "cd /usr/local/share/fonts/truetype" without the quotes (the path is "/usr/share/fonts/truetype" on some distros). What this does is changes the directory to the truetype fonts directory.
3. Type in "sudo mkdir myfonts" also without quotes. Assuming you're not logged in as root, this will ask you for your password. Anything you type will not be seen, but it is there. Just type in your password, press enter, and the directory 'myfonts' will be created.
4. Type in "cd myfonts" . Then type in "sudo cp ~/fontname.ttf ." . These will get your font in the /myfonts directory.
5. In order to install the font, ownership has to belong to root, so type in "sudo chown root fontname.ttf" and after that "sudo mkfontdir" which makes a directory for your font.
6. Now your font is installed, but it will disappear the next time ubuntu starts up, so you just need to type "cd .." and after that "fc-cache" .

mumbai gets hot between april to july. what i will be writing below is cheapest way to cool your room.

to do this you should have at least one table fan, good if you have two table fans. there should be at least one window in room, good if you have two window.

you have to place these fans on the stool of window, now the direction of fan is important.

in afternoons place the fans such that they face outside, this way they will throw all the hot air in the room outside and room will remain cool.

in nights place the fans such that they face inside, this way they will pull the cool air in side your room.

you can also do this if you have exhaust fan in your room, by just switching the phase.

if you still feel hot then you can buy a air conditioner :)

CakePHP vs Codeigniter vs Symphony vs Ruby on Rails

MVC (Model View Controller) framework for PHP is hot. And, I also tried few MVC frameworks over the weekends.

Below is my experience with some such frameworks.

CakePHP: Spend most of the time installing and configuring it. After it was configured created a simple application quickly using command line scaffolding. Nice documentation. This required dedicated hosting and putting it on shared hosting is not straight forward.

Codeigniter: Just download and put all the files in htdocs and its installed. No command line available, but created a small application in very short time. Nice documentation. Can be easily installed on Dedicated as well as Shared hosting.

Symphony: Spend most of the time installing and configuring. Haven't created a single line of code.

Ruby On Rails: Spend time in installing and configuring. Created an application very quickly using Scaffolding. Dont know how to put it on live server.

4. Now place a table fan facing this setup to cool this system when you are using this. You can think of putting a small cabinet fan near the LCD to cool it. Remember cooling this is very important else you will loose your LCD.

5.- Click on "Advanced Search" under the search textbox. Scroll down and
unmark the option "Hide duplicate bugs". Then click "Search".

6.- Look for the bug you reported yourself. If you didn't change the
summary while reporting, it should say "seahorse-agent...". But it may
be different. In any case, it shouldn't be very difficult to find.
(Hint: look for the bugs with the greater bug number.)

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click "Unsubscribe" on the right

Then I googled a lot from my cell and Googled "divx for s60 3rd edition" and I got a link to download a setup for divx player.

In this tutorial I will describe how to install and configure mod_deflate on an Apache2 web server. mod_deflate allows Apache2 to compress files and deliver them to clients (e.g. browsers) that can handle compressed content which most modern browsers do. With mod_deflate, you can compress HTML, text or XML files to approx. 20 - 30% of their original sizes, thus saving you server traffic and making your modem users happier.

Compressing files causes a slightly higher load on the server, but in my experience this is compensated by the fact that the clients' connection times to your server decrease a lot. For example, a modem user that needed seven seconds to download an uncompressed HTML file might now only need two seconds for the same, but compressed file.

By using mod_deflate you don't have to be afraid that you exclude users with older browsers that cannot handle compressed content. The browser negotiates with the server before any file is transferred, and if the browser does not have the capability to handle compressed content, the server delivers the files uncompressed.

mod_deflate has replaced Apache 1.3's mod_gzip in Apache2. If you want to serve compressed files with Apache 1.3, take a look at this tutorial: mod_gzip - serving compressed content by the Apache webserver

I want to say first that this is not the only way of setting up such a system. There are many ways of achieving this goal but this is the way I take. I do not issue any guarantee that this will work for you!

1 Enable mod_deflate

If you have Apache2 installed, mod_deflate should also already be installed on your system. Now we have to enable it. On Debian, we can do it like this:

a2enmod deflate

Then restart Apache2:

/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

On other distributions you might have to edit Apache2's configuration manually to enable mod_deflate. You might have to add a line like this to the LoadModule section:

LoadModule deflate_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_deflate.so

Make sure you adjust the path to mod_deflate.so, and restart Apache2 afterwards.

2 Configure mod_deflate

The compression of files can be configured in one of two ways: either explicit exclusion of files by extension or explicit inclusion of files by MIME type. You can enable mod_deflate for your whole Apache2 server, or just for specific virtual sites. Depending on this, either open your Apache2's global server configuration section now or just the vhost configuration section where you want to enable mod_deflate.

2.1 Explicit Inclusion Of Files By MIME Type

If you want to compress HTML, text, and XML files only, add this line to your configuration:

AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml

This is the configuration I'm using because I don't want to compress images or PDF files or already compressed files such as zip files.

2.2 Explicit Exclusion Of Files By Extension

If you want to compress all file types and exclude just a few, you would add something like this to your configuration (instead of the line from section 2.1):

This would compress all files except images (gif, jpg, and png), already compressed files (like zip and tar.gz) and PDF files which makes sense because you do not gain much by compressing these file types.

2.3 Further Configuration Directives

Regardless whether you use the configuration from section 2.1 or 2.2, you should add these lines to your configuration:

These lines are for some older browsers that do not support compression of files other than HTML documents.

The configuration is now finished, and you must now restart Apache2. On Debian, you do it like this:

3 Testing

To test our compression, we add a few directives to our mod_deflate configuration that log the compression ratio of delivered files. Open your mod_deflate configuration and add the following lines:

Make sure you replace /var/log/apache2 with your Apache2's log directory. This could be /var/log/httpd, /var/log/httpd2, etc.

Then restart Apache2. On Debian, do it like this:

/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Now whenever a file is requested this will be logged in /var/log/apache2/deflate_log (or to whatever file you changed it to). A typical log line looks like this:

"GET /info.php HTTP/1.1" 7621/45430 (16%)

You see that the file info.php was requested and delivered. Its original size was 45430 bytes, and it was compressed to 7621 bytes or 16% of its original size! This is a great result, and if your web site mostly consists out of HTML, text, and XML files, mod_deflate will save you a lot of traffic, and for users with a low-bandwidth connection your site will load much faster.

If you don't need the logging after your tests anymore, you can undo the changes from section 3 and restart Apache2.

How to reduce this time?

A DNS server resolves domain names into IP addresses. So when you request “yahoo.com” for example, the DNS server finds out the address for the domain, and sends your request the right way.

You can run a DNS cache on your computer. This will speed up the process of looking up domain names when browsing. The difference is about 30-60 ms. Multiply that difference by the number of websites you visit a day for an approximate estimate of the speed improvement.

First you need to make sure that Universe repository is enabled in your sources.list file

Install dnsmasq Using the following command

sudo apt-get install dnsmasq

uncomment the following line (remove “#” in the beginning) in the file /etc/dnsmasq.conf

listen-address=127.0.0.1

Now edit

/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf

and make sure the section below exactly like this, especially the line that says “prepend domain-name-servers 127.0.0.1;”

prepend domain-name-servers 127.0.0.1;
request subnet-mask, broadcast-address, time-offset, routers,
domain-name, domain-name-servers, host-name,
netbios-name-servers, netbios-scope;

Now open the file

/etc/resolv.conf

in your text editor. It probably looks like:

search example.com

Add nameserver 127.0.0.1 in it and now this file will look like

nameserver 202.56.250.5

Now you need to restart the dnsmasq using the following command

sudo /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart

Now you are running a local DNS cache.

Now test again

an idea came in my mind when i was tearing local train tickets, idea was to recycling these tickets. later this idea lead to another idea. below is what the idea is :)

some arrangement where we place dust-bins in offices and school and request all employees and pupils to put all paper waste in these dustbins.

some arrangement to collect all these dust-bins and bring it to a centralized station where we note that how much paper waste was collected from which place.

recycle this waste and make note books, paper to print question paper, printing paper, visiting cards out of it supplying back to the places from where the dustbins were collected.

i dont know what is its financial feasibility but i think this will help environment.

How to set up a home web server

It seems like everybody’s blogging and sharing digital photos online.
This booming hobby (and business) sends many people to paid hosting
companies to share their thoughts and images. Though many companies are
reliable and inexpensive, with a little work and some relatively cheap
hardware you can host your own files, save some money, and have
complete control over what services are available and how your content
is displayed.
Services
You will need a high-speed connection capable of bringing information
to your home (downloading) and sending information out to the Internet
(uploading). Most DSL and cable connections allow this, but some limit
the amount of information that users are allowed to upload. Check with
your local provider to see if they have such limits.
The next thing you should think about is a domain name. Your domain
name is the name people will use to look up your web pages or to send
you email. You will want to register this domain name. There are
several services that can help do that. If you’re using a dsl
connection or a cable modem, you may not have a static network address,
so you should look at services from sites like dyndns.org, no-ip.com,
or zoneedit.com. Some of these services can also help with domain
registration.
Hardware
Once you have an internet connection and have set up your domain name,
the next step is to purchase and set up a home router. This piece of
equipment will allow you to share your network connection with several
computers. And, importantly, it will also serve as a first line of
defense for your home web server. Any good electronics store will have
a selection of routers.
Make sure that the model you select fits the following profile:
* Choose a router with a couple of hardwired Ethernet ports,
sometimes known as RJ-45 LAN jacks. It is not recommended to use a
wireless connection for your web server.
* Make sure that your router is capable of port forwarding, as this
will be necessary to route the outside web traffic to your web server.
We will talk about configuration of this later in this article.
The last piece of hardware you will need is the actual computer. There
a few requirements for the machine:
* Minimum processor speed of 1Ghz
* At least 1 Gigabyte (GB) of RAM in system memory
* A DVD burner
* Adequate storage for your website’s needs
Note on storage
It’s advised to consider your web server’s needs for long-term
storage. What you plan on sharing will be the determining factor in the
amount of storage you will need, and a little bit every few days really
adds up. Most still digital pictures range in size from 2 Megabytes
(MB) and up, varying widely due to size and resolution. Videos are even
larger, with a full-length movie averaging around 1,000MB (or 1GB) in
size. Music files and software packages are also pretty huge. An MP3
file averages around 4MB, while the same file, in .wav format, weighs
in at a whopping 40MB. Realistically, the initial hard drive should be
no less than 160GB.
Now for the details:
* Make sure your new server has a 10/100 Ethernet connection.
* Have the right peripherals. You will need a keyboard, mouse, and
monitor to complete your installation. Once your computer is up and
running, you will not need the monitor plugged into your computer full
time, so you can borrow a monitor from a computer you already have.
* If you plan on uploading photos to your server, you may want a
compatible memory card reader. It will make uploading your pictures
much easier and faster.
* An uninterruptable power supply (UPS) will help protect your
computer from power spikes and outages.
Once all the pieces have been assembled, it’s time to begin
installation.
Installation
1. Power on your computer and insert the Fedora™ Core or Red Hat®
Enterprise Linux® installation disk into your DVD drive.
2. Select your language and keyboard setup.
3. You can select automatic partitioning for your hard drive space,
but it may not be ideal for this kind of deployment. Here is a
suggested breakdown of your partitions, based on a computer with 1GB of
RAM and a 160GB hard drive:
/boot 100MB
/ 10240MB
swap 2048MB (this should be twice the system memory)
/tmp 5120MB
/var 133120MB (this is where the majority of your web content will be
stored)
/var/log 10240MB
4. Select the default settings for the boot loader and allow it to
be installed in the master boot record (MBR).
5. When you get to network configuration:
* Select manual settings.
* Select configure eth0.
* Turn off configure using DHCP.
* Turn on activate on boot.
* Set the IP address to a value in your network range. Make
sure it is an address that is not being used by another computer or
device on your network.
* Set the network mask to your network settings.
6. When you get to firewall configuration:
* Enable firewall
* Click on the web server Set SELinux to warn until the
installation is complete and all applications have been installed.
7. Continue through the next several install screens, making sure to
note your root password.
Package selection
An “everything” install is not required or recommended for this type of
application. You should perform a custom installation, making sure to
select the editors, web server, and MySQL (this is the database often
used by blogging and photo-sharing applications) packages.
Continue clicking through until the install finishes. The installer
should then eject your install disk and automatically reboot your
computer.
Tip
A handy trick at this point in the install is to enter your
computer’s BIOS–usually accessed by hitting the F1 or delete key
during boot (check your computer’s documentation for the correct
command). In the BIOS, you can set your computer to reboot on power
loss. Then, if your server suffers an extended power loss, when the
power is returned it will automatically restart.
Configuration
Once the computer reboots, login with your root password. Now would be
a good time to check for updates to your operating system. You can set
up a service like RHN to get automatic updates for Red Hat Enterprise
Linux, or download Fedora Core package updates from any number of
mirrors.
Once updated and rebooted, it’s time to configure your services:
1. Start system-config-services
2. Make sure that httpd and mysqld are started and selected to start
on boot, then save the service configuration.
3. Verify that your web server is working correctly by opening a
browser and pointing it at http://localhost/ (which always points to
the web server on your computer). You should see the test page for
apache, the web server application.
Your web server comes with a basic configuration, but some
customization is suggested for optimal performance. Open a terminal
window and:
cd /etc/httpd/conf
cp httpd.conf httpd.conf.bak
You’ve made a backup of the stock httpd.conf file. Now edit it with the
text editor of your choosing. Make the following changes:
ServerAdmin
ServerName www.
Save and close the editor. Issue the command:
service httpd restart
This will restart the web server with your changes.
Dynamic IP
If your Internet provider uses dynamic addresses, then you will need to
install an application to track and update your information with your
domain provider. This is usually a matter of installing and configuring
the application. Doing this will add your router login information as
well as your provider login information to the configuration file.
Ddclient is a popular choice for this and works with Dynamic Network
Services. You can get the RPM for ddclient via yum. To configure
ddclient:
* edit the /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf file and uncomment the
section for your router
* add in the password you set for the admin user (ie use=linksys,
fw=linksys, fw-login=admin, fw-password=admin)
* in the myserver section, add your login and password for
dyndns.org, along with your hostname.
As an example:
server=members.dyndns.org
login=mylogin
password=mypassword
myhost.dyndns.org
Finally make sure that the ddclient service is configure to run at
start time by issuing the command:
chkconfig –add ddclient 345
Security
To increase the level of security on your webserver, you may want to
add some of the following lines of code to /etc/sysconfig/iptables:
-A INPUT -s 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp –dport 22
-j ACCEPT (this line allows only machines on your local network to
access the server)
-A INPUT -m state –state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT (these lines allows
existing connections to remain open while changing your firewall rules)
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state –state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp –dport 25 -j DROP (this line blocks
unauthorized mail connections)
-A FORWARD -j RH-Firewall-1-INPUT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT (this line allows local network
in)
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p icmp -m icmp –icmp-type 255 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p esp -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p ah -j ACCEPT (these rules allow ipsec
connections)
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p tcp -m state –state NEW -m tcp –dport 80 -j
ACCEPT (this line allows website traffic to pass)
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -j REJECT –reject-with icmp-host-prohibited
(this line blocks all other port connection to your computer)
COMMIT
The above example assumes your network is on the 192.168 range. If
yours is not, adjust the numbers according to your network information.
Remember to restart your iptable service afterwards for the change to
take effect.
Content
You are finished with your server’s installation and configuration. Now
it is time to add your content. Perhaps this a photo gallery program, a
blog application, or even some simple static web pages. Anything that
is going to be available online should be stored in /var/www/html.
Open for business (port forwarding)
Once you have your content in place, the final step in the setup
process is to reconfigure your router to allow network traffic access
to your web sever. Open up a browser and go to your router’s
configuration page. Typically this is done by pointing your browser at
the IP address of the router (example: 192.168.0.1). Look for the port
forwarding section and make sure all http services or port 80 traffic
is sent to the IP address of your web server.
If all went well you should now be able to point your browser at
www., where you should see your home page. You can confirm
that things are working by contacting someone not on your local network
to see if they can visit your new website.
Vigilance
Now that your web server is up and running, you will want to make sure
it stays that way. Continue regularly checking for updates to keep it
stable and secure. Because you are allowing outside access, you will
want to pay close attention to the activity on your web server.
No login required. Want to see your comments in print? Send a letter to
the editor.
A transaction record of your web activity is automatically saved in
/var/log/httpd. Here you will find four basic files; access_log,
error_log, ssl_access_log, and ssl_error_log.
Access_log will show a log of all pages viewed, what type of browser
viewed them and from what network address the requests came.
Error_log will show all errors encountered by your website, included
pages not found and problems with starting the service.
Ssl_access_log and ssl_error_log record all secure pages, which were
not covered in this setup guide.
The numbers at the end of the files indicate older files that are
stored as a temporary back-up. These back-up files are automatically
overwritten over time.

Max MTU: How do I find mine?

The MTU setting controls the maximum ethernet packet size your PC will send (you did know the Internet works in packets, didn’t you?). Why a limit? Because although larger packets can be constructed and sent, your ISP and Internet backbone routers and equipment will chop up (fragment) any packets larger than their limit. These parts are then reassembled by the target equipment before reading. This fragmentation and reassembly is not optimal.

MTU and Windows and Defaults
Unless otherwise set, Windows defaults MTU to 1500, or a lower value of 576 for external networks. 1500 is OK unless you are running PPPoE, want to use IPSec (Secure VPNs) or both, then it’s too big. 576 is not efficient for the broadband/Internet; it’s too small.

Finding the largest MTU, by EXPERIMENT
If your MTU is too low already, maybe 576, the following method will not be able to detect whether you can switch to an optimal size. So first follow “CHANGING MTU for PPPoE” to reset MTU to 1500, reboot and then come back to this!

The best value for MTU is that value just before your packets get fragmented. How do you find that out? By using Ping at an command prompt.

Windows 2000/XP users:

Go to Start/ Programs/ Accessories/ Command Prompt and type the following:

ping -f -l 1472 www.dslreports.com
(That is a dash lower case “L,” not a dash “1.” Also note the spaces in between the sections.)

Linux users:

ping -s 1472 www.dslreports.com

OS X users:

ping -D -s 1472 www.dslreports.com

Linux and OS X commands are case sensitive.

Press Enter. Then reduce 1472 by 10 until you no longer get the “packet needs to be fragmented” error message. Then increase by 1 until you are 1 less away from getting the “packet need to be fragmented” message again.

Add 28 more to this (since you specified ping packet size, not including IP/ICMP header of 28 bytes), and this is your MaxMTU.

Note:If you can ping through with the number at 1472, you are done! Stop right there. Add 28 and your MaxMTU is 1500.

For PPPoE, your MaxMTU should be no more than 1492 to allow space for the 8 byte PPPoE “wrapper,” but again, experiment to find the optimal value. For PPPoE, the stakes are high: if you get your MTU wrong, you may not just be sub-optimal, things like UPLOADING or web pages may stall or not work at all!

1452 TCP Data size (MSS) when MTU is 1492 and using PPPoE.
576 Typically recommended as the MTU for dial-up type applications, leaving 536 bytes of TCP data.

MTU and other OS
For Linux, it is a matter of using the ifconfig command (read the main page for ifconfig).

For Macintosh, your PPPoE software (MacPOET) will set the MTU correctly.

If you try to copy a folder using the get or mget commands, sftp will complain that it “Cannot download non-regular file: filename”. This is because the basic sftp client doesn’t allow for a recursive copy. However, the program scp will allow you to do this. The scp command will not allow you to see what’s on the sftp server, so the files need to be located using the sftp client.

Note: the scp command is a Unix command, and needs to be run from the Unix prompt. NOT within the SFTP client.

Usage: scp user@host:remote-path local-path

scp is like the Unix command cp and should work similarly. To copy a file from your Unix home directory and put it in the working directory.
